Report in the Australian Financial Review of 30th November 2016 of my comments at a Melbourne Economic Forum, querying the popular notion that there is something inherently more worthy about jobs in manufacturing than other types of jobs, and arguing that we need to stop stereotyping certain types of jobs as “women’s work” if we are to find alternative occupations for men who are displaced from factory employment as a result of globalization, technology or whatever.
